A very impressive British stoneware bowl decorated in tenmoku and dolomite glazes by renowned potter David Leach (British, 1911 – 2005) and dating from the 20th century. The bowl of wide rounded shape stands raised on a thick narrow round unglazed foot with recessed base. The bowl has a fold back rim the outer body decorated in deep brown tenmoku glazes. The inner bowl is decorated with an abstract design with brown tenmoku glazes beneath a thick crawling green white dolomite glaze with speckling and with wavy wax resist lines revealing the glaze beneath. This absolutely stunning example has an impressed DL seal mark to the base along with an old paper label.
