A fine medieval inspired Castle Hedingham art pottery jug by Edward Bingham and dating from the latter 19th century. The jug is hand modeled with a cavalier like figure forming the handle perched on the side of the jug and peering down into the jug. The body has an applied trellis criss cross pattern each section with a small raised floret in colours on a light brown ground. The spout is modeled with the head of a lion wearing a floral crown. The jug has a raised castle mark to the base along with an impressed CASTLE HEDINGHAM mark and E BINGHAM and has various incised numbers.

Offered in excellent condition for this type of ware.
