A good and scarce early Victorian Staffordshire pottery figure portraying Louis Napoleon on horseback and dating from around 1860.

Louis Napoleon Bonaparte (Napoleon III) was the first president of France between 1848 and 1852 and became Emperor in 1852 to 1870 and was the last monarch to rule France.

This wonderful display piece portrays Louis Napoleon as emperor wearing his military uniform and hat and seated on his horse. The hollow earthenware figure is raised on an oval shaped base and is hand painted with molded and painted LOUIS NAPOLEON titled to the base. The figure has the customary flat and partially painted back and is typically not marked.

In good condition with some pronounced glaze age crazing to the back.
