A rare and stunning Arts & Crafts Omar Ramsden silver and enamel cigarette box and cover. Rectangular in shape with a hinged cover featuring wire-work man-of-war sailing ship in rough seas design set against a blue enamel panel. The scene is set within a rope twist border and the box has a fine hammered finish to the body with a fitted cedar lining to the interior. The box is engraved WHB TO EFS 1927 along the front edge of the cover and is engraved OMAR RAMSDEN - ME FECIT to the base and has London silver assay and makers marks to the side of the cover and body. The box is provided with an original copy of the 1973 Birmingham Exhibition catalogue as listed below.

Provenance: Exhibited at Omar Ramsden 1873-1973 Centenary Exhibition of Silver at the City Museum & Art Gallery, Birmingham 1973 (Catalogue no. 58) original catalogue included in the sale. Sold at Christies King Street, Important Silver on 25th November 2008, Lot 155.
