A rare and unusual Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company, London silver plated Rolls Royce presentation dish mounted centrally with the Spirit of Ecstasy and dating from around 1915. This good quality dish, possibly intended as an ashtray, is heavily made and of round form with a raised edge with a wide flat shaped rim, the dish raised to the centre and mounted with the iconic winged female figure the Spirit of Ecstasy. The figure was traditionally mounted as a mascot on the radiator cap of the Rolls Royce and continues to feature on the car today. The figure is bolted onto the dish and appears to be silvered over bronze. The dish has an RR monogram applied to the rim and has an impressed REGENT PLATE mark to the base along with a Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company mark.
Provenance: acquired from the British Art market.
