A rare and unusual French Theodore Havilland Limoges penguin shaped porcelain teapot designed by renowned Swiss sculptor Edouard-Marcel Sandoz (Swiss, 1881-1971) and dating from around 1930. The body of the teapot is shaped as a penguin with its large webbed feet forming part of the base with its beak forming the pouring spout and with molded wings to the body. The teapot has a large triangular shaped handle with a small fitted cover. The body is hand painted in tones of orange and black and is a wonderful design piece. The teapot has both printed and incised makers marks to the base along with incised initials for Edouard-Marcel Sandoz along with a signature mark.
