A delightful antique English Staffordshire pottery pig moneybox decorated in marble effect slipware glazes and dating from around 1840. The moneybox shaped as a standing pig stands on four short stump legs with a large pig shaped body with molded ears, head and tail. The pig has a flat ended snout and simple pierced holes for eyes and is decorated in orange and blue slip glazes over a cream colored ground. The decoration is applied to the upper body with the lower section just in cream glazes. The money box has a money slit across the back and the pig is not marked.  

Provenance: acquired in the British Art Market.

In good condition with a few small chips and glaze fritting.
