A very fine and stylish pair Oriental bronze vases, acquired as Chinese, applied with birds and dating from the latter 19th century. The vases stand on a narrow round pedestal foot with hexagonal shaped bodies and tall slender shaped necks. The bodies of the vases are decorated with various birds flying amidst flowering shrubs with further birds applied to the necks, the other with a slightly different scene including wading birds. The vases have an incised stylized petal design around the upper body with incised cloud patterning to the neck and both have molded character marks applied to the bases.

Provenance: acquired in the British Art Market.

In good condition.
