A very stylish Chinese porcelain figure of a seated cat decorated in bright turquoise glazes and dating from around 1920. The large seated cat is well modelled and sits glancing sideways with its tail resting on its back leg and with its ears raised in an attentive manner. The features are well defined and detailed with the eyes painted black. The base of the cat is unglazed except for where the glazes have run down and over the base. There are feint remnants of markings to the base. A wonderful display piece and we will be sorry to see it go.
Provenance: acquired from The British Art market.
In good condition with a small glaze rough to the top of one of the ears but barely noticeable.
