An unusual and stylish antique Chinese simulated bamboo brush pot decorated in brown glazes and dating from the 19th century or possibly earlier. The ceramic brush pot is of tall cylindrical shape standing on a narrow unglazed foot rim with recessed base. The body of the pot is well modelled as bamboo stems cut around the top edge with hollowed elements to the centre of the stems. The pot is decorated in contrasting treacle and dark brown glazes with partial glazing to the inside and glazed to the base. The vase is not marked.
