An unusual Chinese bronze censer of bell shape mounted with two Buddhist lions probably Ming 1368-1644. The censer is formed as a hollow bell with a wide rounded base and is decorated in relief taotie masks below three Chinese characters between studs and key frets. Mounted with two Buddhist lions holding a pierced brocade ball, probably to enable the censer to be suspended. With Chinese marks within the design.
In good condition with age wear from use to the inner body and with extensive age wear to the base.
