A vintage Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) limited edition 'Service Visage Noir' earthenware plate glazed and slip decorated with a horned face in white outline with red cheeks against a black ground. The plate has stamped 'Madoura Plein Feu/Edition Picasso' mark to the base and is marked with the Suzanne Raime monogram DR. The plate is from an edition of 100 made in 1948 and is recorded as No. 40 in Alain Ramie, Picasso, Catalogue of the Edited Ceramic Works, 1947-1971 (Paris, 1988).
