A large and impressive Leach Pottery trailed design cake plate made at St Ives, Cornwall and dating from the 20th century. This sought after plate is finely and heavily made standing on a narrow round unglazed foot with a raised rim with a shaped flat edge. The centre of the plate is decorated with a variation on the famous Willow Pattern with a central brown scrolling stem with blue hanging linear elements to either side. These are set against a mottled stone glazed ground which is also applied to the base with a contrasting brown tenmoku glazed rim. The plate has an impressed Leach Pottery mark to the base and probably made by either David or Bernard Leach.
