A large and very impressive British made tenmoku glazed lidded studio pottery pot dating gfrom ther 20th century. The stoneware pot stands on a narrow round unglazed wave patterned base and is of wide rounded shape with a raised narrow unglazed top rim with a slightly domed hat shaped cover with a raised central loop handle. The cover has an unglazed inside rim. The body of the vase is decorated with tenmoku glazes with wax resist linear patterning repeated around the body of the pot with a matted contrasting brown finish. The tenmoku glazes, also applied to the cover with a slight textured finish. The inner pot has a light grey speckled glazed finish and the pot is not marked. The quality of this impressive piece would suggest it has been made by a highly accomplished potter and comes from a collection including many of the most distinguished potters.
