A large and heavily made Swedish mid-century pottery wall plaque in the form of an abstract stylized bird by Britt-Louise Sundell (1928-2011) for Gustavsberg and probably dating from around 1960. The thickly potted plaque is modeled as a rounded bodied bird with circular patterns glazed in various colors including orange, green and blue to the body and face and set against a dark grey black colored ground. The bird has what appears to be a number of chicks mounted on its back all similarly patterned and glazed. The back of the plaque is unglazed with two two recessed hanging holes and with a copper hanging wire attached. The plaque has an impressed GUSTAVSBERG makers mark.

In good condition.
