A stylish mid-century German Rosenthal Studio Linie candle holder by renowned Danish artist and designer Bjorn Wiinblad (Danish, 1918-2006) and dating from around 1960. The heavily made porcelain candle holder is formed as a chamberstick with a loop carrying handle to the side. The holder stands on a narrow round unglazed foot and has a round hollow body with a narrow neck and raised candle holder. The body is applied and decorated in relief with a novelty face with a pointed nose, large round eyes and mouth with small ears to either side and with small patterned roundels forming the hair. Set below a patterned border with further designs applied around the candle holder. The base has a small unglazed lozenge bearing Rosethal Studio Linie marks.

In good original condition with light wear associated with age and use.
