A very stylish mid-century art pottery lamp base by renowned Italian makers Bitossi and dating from around 1960. The hand-crafted lamp base is of tall hollow cylindrical shape with a slightly recessed base and with typical Bitossi turquoise glazes applied to a band of repeat pattern of incised roundels applied around the lower body and set within a raised border. The body of the lamp base has a textured white glazed finish with the top with a narrow raised section and with a hole to accommodate a lamp fitting. A small cable hole is applied to the lower edge. The lamp base is marked B4/35 and ITALY and is a wonderful piece with real period style.
Provenance: acquired in the British art market.
