An unusual and unique English Art Deco hand painted pottery plate with an abstract leaf design attributed to renowned English ceramics designer Charlotte Rhead (English, 1885-1947) dated 1925. The plate we believe is a George Jones blank which may indeed have been painted to show artistic ability or indeed to seek a contract with George Jones. The plate is thickly painted in brightly colored enamels with abstract leaf and other designs on a yellow ground and is a very striking design. The base of the plate has a blue patterned finish and incorporates the artists initials which appear to be CLTR. The plate also has an impressed George Jones mark along with the date 12/25 for December 1925.
