A large and stylish Italian Bitossi mid-century art pottery figure of a bull by renowned artist Aldo Londi (Italian, 1911-2003) and dating from around 1960.
Aldo Londi was a renowned Italian Ceramist but was also known as a painter and sculptor combining his skills to produce a range of stylized animals in varying stlye and size and mostly in a rimini blue glazed finish. With the growing appreciation for mid-century style which works well in both minimalist and traditional settings, the demand for such pieces has increased significantly in recent years.
This large standing figure of a bull is decorated with incised patterning and in more unusual green and turquoise glazes and is marked Italy 4169 to the base.
