Dimensions:
A rare late Georgian or early Regency Tunbridgeware sewing basket dating from 1820-1930. The inner basket has a rounded base with a stacked block design in various colored woods with wooden edge supports lined with silk stitched to the base and top rim which forms a rounded edge with a tessellated border using a myriad of exotic wood veneers. The edge is mounted with a thin inlaid wood carrying handle. The sewing basket is not marked.
The basket is in remarkably good condition for its age and has age wear to the original silk lining with a few of the wooden edge supports loose.
