A stunning mid-century Continental white cased purple art glass vase with a dropped wing top and dating from around 1960. Possibly Italian the hand-blown and heavily made vase has an encased white body overlaid with purple divided into vertical panels with white ribbon like strands, the whole cased in clear glass. The vase stands raised on a clear glass narrow round foot with a wide rounded body and narrowing tapered tall neck with a flattened top to form two wings which have been folded down either side of the neck in handle form. The vase has a recessed polished pontil mark and is not marked. Very much an experimental piece of typical mid-century style with natural wear to the base associated with its age.
Provenance: acquired in the British art market.
In good condition with wear to the foot rim commensurate with age and use.
