A stylish and elegant Hungarian ceramic vase of Islamic style and shape with pierced designs by renowned maker Zsolnay Pecs and dating from around 1890. This impressive vase stands raised on a narrow round pedestal base with a round onion shape body and narrowing tall slender neck with an Islamic style crested bowl shaped top. The vase is enclosed within a pierced outer and is decorated in tones of green, yellow, brown and cream highlighted with gilding. With gilding applied to the edging and gilding applied to inside the top around the opening. The vase has an early gold makers mark applied to the base along with a number 90, perhaps denoting the year.
Provenance: acquired in the British art market.
In good condition with customary rubbing to the gilding.
