A rare Martin Brothers extra large stoneware face jug by Robert Wallace Martin dated 1897 sculpted in relief with a grinning face exposing teeth and a blowing or whistling face to the opposite side. With a large pouring spout and raised loop handle the jug is decorated in a combination of matted and glazed elements with highlights to eyes. The jug has incised 'Martin Bros London & Southall' to the base along with the date '4-1897'.

Together with:

A Martin Brothers stoneware face jug by Robert Wallace Martin dating from the early 20th century modelled with a smiling face to one side and with a grinning face to the opposite side glazed light blue grey glazes with treacle glazes to the hair, flat strap handle and raised pouring spout. The jug has incised 'RW Martin & Bros London & Southall' to the base along with a further mark, possibly a date code.
