An exceptional and rare Doulton Burslem Luscian ware tear drop shaped vase handpainted by renowned miniature and historical artist Leslie Johnson dating between 1891 and 1902. The tall and elegantly shaped vase has a large body with slender neck and cup small cup shaped top, richly gilded to the inside with a splayed rim. The body of the vase is painted with girl dressed in classical dress in a garden gathering flower blossoms in the manner of Fragonard. The vase is signed Leslie Johnson within the design and is titled BLOSSOMS to the base along with printed Doulton Burslem marks. Opinion suggests that this is a unique piece and possibly made for exhibition in Chicago in 1893.
Offered in excellent condition with a couple of tiny white marks to the painted design mentioned for accuracy.
