An exceptional and large impressive French Art Deco earthenware figural study of a seated young naked girl sat between two Borzoi hounds by Armand Godard produced by Marcel Guillard (1896-1932) for Editions Etling, Paris and dating from around 1925. This huge pottery figure is mounted on a long rectangular shaped integral base and portrays the naked girl seated centrally with her legs drawn up to her chest holding and resting a bowl on her raised knees. Two Borzoi hounds seated to either side rest a paw on the girls arms and holding their heads just above the bowl. The girl is beautifully portrayed with short black hair and well modeled features and she has a green cloth draped over her lap. The group is painted in naturalistic colors with a brown mottled base. The figure has a fine intentional craquelure to the glazed finish. Signed M Godard to the upper base and with impressed MARCEL GUILLARD and EDITIONS ETLING PARIS marks to the base.

In good original condition.
