A stunning and rare iconic early Art Deco pair Hancock & Sons Morrisware hand painted art pottery vases with flowering thistles by George Cartlidge dating between 1918 and 1926. These stylish bud shaped vases have a very Art Nouveau appearance and Stand on a wide rounded base with shaped body and rounded bulb shaped tops. The vases are hand painted with purple flowering thistles on tall stems applied in a tubelined fashion with green painted scrolling leaves supporting buds set on a mottled yellow ground with blue ground elements around the top and base of the vases. The vases have printed makers marks to the base.
In good condition with light wear commensurate with age.
