A stunning and quality pair German Rosenthal mid-century large porcelain doves designed by renowned sculptor Fritz Heidenreich (German, 1895-1966). The doves stand mounted on irregular shaped bases and comprise of a male and female dove in mating poses with tail feathers spread with the male pumping up his chest the birds are very well modelled with wonderful detail to the feathering and plumage. The heads are both well detailed with molded and hand painted features with similar detailed claws. Both bases are painted in subtle green tones and both are marked F HEIDENREICH with green Rosenthal marks to the base with matching impressed numbers 1589 and 1590.
Provenance: Landwade Hall, Exning, Suffolk and acquired in the British Art Market.
In good presentable condition with some minor glaze chips to the wing extremities.
