A very fine early Aesthetic Movement Doulton Lambeth biscuit barrel with silver plated mounts and handle and decorated with stylized floral designs by renowned artist Edith D Lupton dated 1879. The cylindrical shaped stoneware biscuit barrel stands on a flat round base and is applied with a silver-plated top rim with swing handle and a recessed silver-plated cover. The body of the biscuit barrel is decorated in relief with stylized floral designs with rosette style flowers set within arabesque arches with foliage. The barrel is hand painted in tones of blue, green and white on a brown ground. The jar has impressed makers marks along with incised makers marks for Edith D Lupton and assistant marks for Charlotte Lamb and Alice Herapath and is dated 1879.
