A rare Arts & Crafts earthenware Persian style dish hand painted with a swan and chrysanthemum flowers by Charles Passenger for William De Morgan (English, 1839-1914) dating from around 1890. The lightly potted dish is of simple rounded form with a raised edge and is painted with a central figure of a swan against a scroll and surrounded by five chrysanthemum flowers set with stylized scrolling leaf designs against a white ground. Painted in tones of pink, green, turquoise, white and yellow with black outlines the dish has a pattern of blue and turquoise concentric circles to the base and is marked W. DE. MORGAN & CO. with intials C.P for Charles Passenger.
The plate us offered in good condition with a professionally restored break to one edge and professional restoration to further chips to the edge.
