A scarce and exceptional antique English ceramic jug decorated in the Jousting Knights pattern by William Ridgway and dating from around 1840. The jug of miniature size is made in a green/grey drabware stoneware and is crisply molded with two knights on horseback jousting in front of a tall tent with further knights standing waiting. The jug is of round multi sided form with a raised ornate flat top handle and large raised pouring spout. The jug is not marked but is a well documented pattern produced by William Ridgway.
