A rare and unusual antique Wedgwood Majolica pottery wall bracket dated 1872. The heavily made bracket portrays a young body standing on a narrow pedestal base supporting and lifting a curtain with tasseled edge below and edged overhang forming the top of the bracket. The bracket is hand painted in typical Majolica colors with turquoise, yellow, brown and blue with the figure decorated in natural white glazes. The bracket is impressed Wedgwood and has date code GSA.
The bracket is offered in good overall condition with a few minor surface glaze chips with chips to both back corners. There is also a small natural underglaze firing crack to one side of the boy’s neck. These are all minor and this is a fine and rare example.
