A large and exceptional mid-century Ronzan Italian ceramic cobra snake in the style of Lenci and dating from around 1950. The large hollow made snake sits coiled with its head raised in a defensive manner with the tip of its tail also raised. The snake has a molded textured finish to the body and is hand painted in natural tones of brown, black and blue elements on a white ground with distinctive markings to the back of the snakes head and with piercing yellow and black eyes. The snake is well modelled with good skin detail to the body and with a ‘winged neck’ and well proportioned and shaped head. The snake is hand marked RONZAN MADE IN ITALY to the base and is numbered 1661.
