A good quality antique Italian Aksos art pottery jug moulded with a child figure dating from the 19th century. The jug is heavily potted standing on an oval foot with a sack shaped body raised at one end with a moulded pouring spout with a decorative patterned rim. A very ornately moulded handle with triple terminals is applied to one side and is moulded with stylized leaf designs extending into a larger similar design applied in relief to the body with a central child holding what appears to be a bottle. The Aksos is decorated in green glazes which have heaped and run and in places and is not marked.
In good condition with a few tiny glaze nicks to the leaf designs and with kiln stilt chips to the foot rim.
