A rare and early English porcelain cabinet plate hand painted with Chinese dragons and phoenix birds and probably inspired by Chinese porcelain believed to date from the early 19th century. The plate has a raised edge with a shaped rim and is hand painted with two stylized dragons, one in red and the other in green with two phoenix birds similarly painted. These are painted around a small central roundel in a simple double line border painted with a circular floral garland. The rim of the plate is also painted with a formal leaf border. The painted designs are heavily embellished with gilding and gilded patterning with a gilded rim to the plate. The plate is not marked.
