An exceptionally fine porcelain cabinet plate hand painted with a Salmon Trout by Joseph Birbeck Snr for English porcelain makers Cauldon China and dating from around 1900. This very finely made plate has a raised and shaped molded rim and is painted to the centre with a solitary Salmon Trout swimming along a river bed. The painted detail is exquisite and the plate is signed J Birbeck Snr. The plate is richly embellished with gilding with a wonderful slightly raised scroll design applied around the inner edge of the plate and with more formal gilded patterning to the rim. The plate is marked to the base and includes a retailer printed mark for Gilman Collamore of New York as well as a painted title mark.
