A charming unusual and rare antique English Brampton salt glazed model of two saddled horses dating from around 1830/40. The stoneware model shows the horses standing closely alongside each other and stand raised on a solid rectangular shaped base and stand alongside a post with tall shrubs growing along the ground. Possibly a desk weight the model is finished in a natural salt glaze with elements of brown in the glazing and the figure is not marked.
Provenance: From a collection of early English wears spanning the 18th and early 19th centuries amassed and collected in the 1920/30’s.
The figure displays well although has loss to the tail on one horse with chips to the ears.
