A stylish Austrian Art Deco pair terracotta glazed bookends modelled as the head of a young girl attributed to the Wiener Werkstätte and dating from around 1920. The bookends are heavily made with rectangular plinth style bases unglazed to the underside and both with a hand crafted bust length image of a young girl in a top with frilled sleeves, one raised to form the book support end. Being hand crafted there are variances to each of the heads however are typical of the work of Wiener Werkstätte and both are decorated in simple white glazes. The bookends are not marked.
Provenanve: Acquired from the British Art Market.
In presentable condition however with a few small glaze chips around the edges.
